Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration as we honor the Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist. We gather on this beautiful day to celebrate one of our spiritual heroes, diving deeper into what it means to follow Jesus more closely through the shortest and most direct of the Gospels.
In today’s reverent Homily, the celebrant reflects on the legacy of St. Mark, whose Gospel was written simply for those seeking to know Jesus’ love as catechumens. Drawing from St. Peter’s exhortation to "clothe yourselves with humility" and the Great Commission in Mark’s Gospel, we explore how to live our faith with a strength that comes from God. We are encouraged to "clothed with humility" as we follow Jesus, recognizing that while our human nature may stumble, the Lord’s grace makes us strong, steadfast, and firm. This Mass is a powerful invitation to go into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to every creature.
The Scriptures highlight the call to humble service and the apostolic mission:
-The First Reading (1 Peter 5:5b-14): St. Peter instructs the faithful to be humble toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble". He warns the community to be vigilant against the devil and promises that after a brief period of suffering, God will restore, confirm, and strengthen those called to His eternal glory in Christ.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 89): A commitment to eternal praise: "For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord".
-The Holy Gospel (Mark 16:15-20): Jesus appears to the Eleven and gives them the final mandate: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature". He promises that signs will accompany those who believe. After Jesus is taken up into heaven to sit at the right hand of God, the Apostles go forth and preach everywhere, while the Lord works with them and confirms the word through accompanying signs.
May the sacred mysteries we celebrate today sanctify us and make us strong in the faith of the Gospel which St. Mark proclaimed.

-Homily Key Message: We are called to "dive deeper into our faith"; by following the example of St. Mark, we learn to know Jesus simply and to proclaim the Good News by living more humbly as we serve the Lord and each other.
