Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration as we honor the Feast of St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, priest and martyr. We gather to celebrate the "victory of Jesus over death" and to be inspired by the "strong defense of the Catholic faith" modeled by St. Fidelis.
In today’s reverent Homily, Father Tim Kearney reflects on the life of St. Fidelis, a lawyer turned Capuchin priest known as the "advocate of the poor". Drawing from the dramatic conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus and Jesus’ profound teaching on the Bread of Life, we explore what it means to be a "chosen instrument" of God. We are encouraged to embrace a spirit of sacrifice and charity, recognizing that the "heavenly gifts" we receive at this divine banquet prepare us to share in the glory of the Resurrection. This Mass is a powerful invitation to allow the light of Christ to shine through our witness, especially in our care for the sick and the marginalized.
The Scriptures highlight the power of conversion and the promise of eternal life:
-The First Reading (Acts 9:1-20): Saul, still breathing murderous threats against the disciples, is blinded by a light from heaven and hears the voice of Jesus: "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?". Led by the hand to Damascus, he is visited by Ananias, who restores his sight and baptizes him. Saul immediately begins to proclaim in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 117): A universal call to praise: "Go out to all the world and tell the Good News".
-The Holy Gospel (John 6:52-59): Jesus tells the crowd that His flesh is real food and His blood is real drink, declaring, "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him". He promises that just as He has life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Him will have life because of Him and live forever.
May the "divine banquet" we share today strengthen us to proclaim the death of the Son until He comes again in glory.

Theological & Liturgical Context
-Season: Friday of the Third Week of Easter (Feast of St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen).
-Gospel Focus: The Eucharistic Real Presence; Jesus reveals that the "victory over death" is physically communicated to the believer through His Body and Blood, establishing a "real and tangible" union that allows the faithful to dwell in Him as He dwells in the Father.
-Homily Key Message: We are called to be "models of charity" and "defenders of the faith"; following the example of St. Fidelis, we ask for the grace to care for the poor and the sick, trusting that our witness—even if it costs us our lives—is a participation in the resurrection and glory of Christ.
