Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Thursday of the Third Week of Easter. As we honor the commemoration of blessed martyr St. George, we gather to proclaim the victory of Jesus over death and to be transformed anew by the peace of the Risen Lord.
In today’s reverent liturgy, the celebrant reflects on the "newness of life" that stems from a heart nurtured by the Eucharist. Drawing from the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch and Jesus’ discourse on the Bread of Life, we explore how the Spirit guides us to recognize Christ in one another. We are encouraged to ask for the courage to forgive when friendships falter and to remain steadfast in charity, just as St. George imitated the passion of the Lord. This Mass is a powerful invitation to let the "sustenance of the one bread" confirm us in love and peace.
The Scriptures highlight the guidance of the Spirit and the promise of eternal life:
-The First Reading (Acts 8:26-40): Led by an angel of the Lord, Philip encounters an Ethiopian eunuch reading the prophet Isaiah. Philip explains the Good News of Jesus, starting from the scripture about the lamb led to the slaughter. Upon professing faith, the eunuch is baptized, and Philip is snatched away by the Spirit to continue his mission in Azotus.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 66): A call to joyful worship: "Let all the earth cry out to God with joy".
-The Holy Gospel (John 6:44-51): Jesus tells the crowd that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them, promising that He will raise them up on the last day. He identifies Himself as the "living bread that came down from heaven," declaring that whoever eats this bread will live forever.
May the Bread of life and Cup of hope change our hearts and fill our world with the peace of the Risen Christ.
