Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter. We gather as a global community of faith to celebrate the "victory of Jesus over death" and to find consolation in the merciful heart of Christ.
In today’s reverent Homily, Father Paul Ring reflects on the deep spiritual hunger that only Jesus, the "Bread of Life," can satisfy. Drawing from the early Church’s resilience during persecution and Jesus’ promise of eternal life, we explore how the Lord transforms our "failures to walk in God's word of love" into opportunities for grace and renewal. We are encouraged to recognize that the "most holy exchange" of the Eucharist provides the help we need in this present life and the assurance of "eternal gladness" in the next. This Mass is a powerful invitation to "go in the peace of Christ," carrying His love into a world in need of hope.
The Scriptures highlight the spread of the Gospel and the promise of the Resurrection:
-The First Reading (Acts 8:1b-8): A severe persecution breaks out against the Church in Jerusalem, causing the believers—except for the Apostles—to scatter throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria. Philip goes to a city in Samaria to proclaim the Christ, where the crowds pay attention to his message and witness the healing of the paralyzed and crippled. This missionary work results in "great joy in that city".
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 66): A call to universal praise: "Let all the earth cry out to God with joy".
-The Holy Gospel (John 6:35-40): Jesus declares to the crowd, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger". He reveals that His mission is to do the will of the Father who sent Him: that He should not lose anything of what was given to Him, but raise it up on the last day. Jesus promises that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life.
May the sacred mysteries we celebrate today strengthen our hearts and lead us more deeply into the life of the Risen Lord.
