Christ is among us!
In this powerful homily for the Feast of St. Matthew, we are reminded of Christ’s call to each one of us—not because we are perfect, but precisely because we are sinners in need of healing. Drawing on personal experiences selling perogies in Windsor and heartfelt encounters with visitors asking, “Can I worship here?”, this message reveals the heart of the Church: a hospital for the broken, not a courtroom for the condemned.

St. Matthew’s calling shows us that Jesus meets us where we are—but He never leaves us there. He accepts us, loves us, and calls us to repentance, renewal, and a greater life. As St. John Chrysostom teaches, the Church is where the Divine Physician tends to our wounds.
We are all hypocrites at times, but at least we are trying—trying to rise, trying to repent, trying to follow Christ.
