Byzantine Saints: Apostle James, son of Alphaeus (9 October)
Published 1 hour ago
On October 9th, the Church commemorates Saint James the Apostle, son of Alphaeus. He was one of the Twelve Apostles and the brother of the Holy Evangelist Matthew.
James heard the words of Christ, witnessed His miracles, and after Pentecost, journeyed with Saint Andrew the First-Called, preaching the Gospel across Judea, Edessa, Gaza, and Eleutheropolis. Through their ministry, they healed the sick, cast out demons, and brought many to the true faith.
Saint James completed his apostolic mission in Ostrakine, Egypt, where he was crucified by pagans for proclaiming Christ. His life is a shining testimony of faith, courage, and unwavering devotion to the Gospel.
π May the prayers of Holy Apostle James the son of Alphaeus strengthen us in faith and guide us to Christ.
