St. Leonard of Noblat (Feast Day: November 6) was a French nobleman who renounced worldly honors to follow Christ in humility, prayer, and solitude. A disciple of St. Remigius, Leonard became known for his deep charity, particularly toward prisoners and captives. His miracles, devotion, and founding of a monastic community at Noblat (now St. Leonard-de-Noblat) made him one of the most beloved saints of medieval France and England.

In this reading from The Lives of the Saints by Father Alban Butler, we reflect on his conversion, solitude, and the spiritual power of interior retreat from the world.
