"The multitude pressed upon Jesus to hear the Word of God." (Luke 5:1)

In this profound sermon for the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost, we are reminded that every soul is invited to draw near to Christ. The Gospel of the miraculous catch of fish becomes a lesson on spiritual detachment, obedience, and the supernatural life.

The priest explains how many of our struggles come not because God is absent, but because we are pressing upon created things instead of pressing upon Christ. Drawing from Carmelite spirituality, he outlines three signs of inordinate attachment and shows how obedience, silence, and holy indifference free the soul to hear God's voice.

Just as St. Peter caught nothing until he obeyed Our Lord, we too find fruitfulness only when we surrender our will completely to Jesus.
