Venerable Dius (Dius) of Antioch is one of the great wonderworking monks of the early Church whose life was marked by extraordinary holiness, unceasing prayer, miracles, humility, and profound charity toward the poor.

Born in Antioch near the close of the fourth century, St. Dius embraced a life of rigorous asceticism from his youth. Through fasting, vigils, and constant prayer, he received from God the gifts of dispassion and miracle-working. Following a divine vision, he journeyed to Constantinople where he courageously settled in a place feared because of demonic activity.

God confirmed His servant through many miraculous signs. His walking staff took root and grew into a mighty oak. A spring of fresh water burst forth after his prayers. The sick were healed, the poor were cared for, and even the dead were restored to life.

His holiness became known throughout the empire, drawing Emperor Theodosius II and Patriarch Atticus to seek his blessing. A monastery was founded around his hermitage, where he served as priest and abbot, guiding countless monks toward sanctity.

Even when death appeared near, God granted St. Dius fifteen additional years to continue serving His people before peacefully departing to the Lord.

His life remains a powerful reminder that true greatness is found through humility, prayer, charity, and complete trust in God.
