Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Feast of St. Catherine of Siena, Virgin and Doctor of the Church. We gather to celebrate this great light of the Church, asking for the grace to "ever exult in the revelation of His glory" and to be set on fire with the same divine love that consumed St. Catherine.
In today’s reverent Homily, Father Carlos Suarez reflects on the prophetic witness of St. Catherine, reminding us that we are called to be "in the world, but not of the world". Drawing from the expansion of the early Church in Antioch and Jesus’ cry that He came as "light into the world," we explore how to stand firm against the currents of society. We are encouraged by St. Catherine's famous maxim: "Be who you are meant to be, and you will set the world afire". This Mass is a powerful invitation to take up our cross and follow Christ, trusting that He is with us "till the end".
The Scriptures highlight the mission of the Word and the obedience of the Son:
-The First Reading (Acts 12:24—13:5): The Word of God continues to spread and grow. In the Church at Antioch, while the prophets and teachers are worshipping and fasting, the Holy Spirit instructs them to "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them". After prayer and the laying on of hands, they are sent forth to Cyprus to proclaim the Word in the synagogues.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 104): A prayer of self: "O bless the Lord, my soul!".
-The Holy Gospel (John 12:44-50): Jesus cries out that whoever believes in Him believes in the One who sent Him. He proclaims, "I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness". Jesus clarifies that He does not speak on His own, but gives the command of the Father, which is eternal life.
May the heavenly table at which we are fed confer eternal life upon us, just as it nourished the life of St. Catherine.

Theological & Liturgical Context
-Season: Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter (Feast of St. Catherine of Siena).
-Gospel Focus: The Radiance of Truth; Jesus identifies Himself as the light that dispels the darkness of the world, emphasizing that His mission is not to condemn but to save, and that true discipleship is rooted in the "eternal life" found in the Father's commandment.
-Homily Key Message: We are called to be "prophetic people" who do not blend into society but stand firm in God's truth. Following St. Catherine’s example, we seek to use our unique gifts to "build up God’s kingdom" and redirect the course of society toward human flourishing.
