The Gospel for the Monday of the Third Week of Lent presents the powerful story of Naaman the Syrian, a great commander afflicted with leprosy who sought healing from the prophet Elisha. Yet his healing depended on something simple: washing seven times in the Jordan River.

At first, Naaman refused.

Why? Pride and blindness.
