The Gospel for the Third Sunday of Lent reminds us of Christ’s powerful words:

“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it.” — Luke 11:28

After casting out a demon, a woman praises the Mother of Jesus, saying: “Blessed is the womb that bore you.” But Our Lord reveals an even greater blessing available to every soul: to hear the Word of God and put it into practice.

This powerful Lenten reflection explains how the Word of God must work in three places:

• In the mind to enlighten it with truth
• In the heart to purify it with divine love
• In the hands to produce good works

Without the Word of God, faith weakens, the soul grows cold, and the Christian life becomes empty. But when we truly receive the Word with humility and meditate upon it, it transforms us and leads us toward salvation.

Drawing on Scripture and the wisdom of the saints, this reflection also explains Christ’s parable of the sower, revealing why many hear the Gospel but fail to bear spiritual fruit.

During this holy season of Lent, we are called not only to hear the Word — but to live it.
