March is traditionally dedicated to St. Joseph, the foster father of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the model of humility, obedience, and charity. In this meditation we reflect on the greatest of all virtues: charity — the love of God above all things.

Charity is the virtue that gives life and perfection to every other virtue. Without it, morality remains merely human. With it, our lives become truly Christian.

St. Joseph, described in Sacred Scripture as a just man, loved God with an ardent and perfect love. He was granted the unique privilege of holding in his arms the Incarnate God — the Infant Jesus — near his heart. Through grace, we too are called to participate in this love by loving God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength.

This reflection asks an important question for every Christian soul:

Do we truly love God?

We must show that love through prayer, devotion, fidelity to God's will, and by placing Him above every created thing.

May St. Joseph, patron of the Universal Church and terror of demons, teach us to love God with the same ardent charity that filled his holy soul.
