St. Kennocha, Virgin in Scotland (13 March): Butler's Lives of the Saints

St. Kennocha was a holy virgin of Scotland who lived during the reign of King Malcolm II. Born into a noble and wealthy family, she chose a radically different path from the world. Though she was the only daughter and heir to a rich family, she feared that worldly wealth might corrupt her love for God.
Rejecting suitors and the comforts of noble life, St. Kennocha consecrated herself entirely to God and entered a great nunnery in the county of Fife. There she lived a life of poverty, mortification, deep prayer, and purity of heart.
Through her sanctity she attained a remarkable perfection of virtue, and several miracles were attributed to her during her lifetime, making her name widely known among the faithful.
She died in holy old age, and her memory continued to be honored throughout Scotland. Several churches bore her name, including St. Ken’s Kirk near Glasgow and another called Kyle, where her relics were once venerated with great devotion.
St. Kennocha is also remembered in the Aberdeen Breviary, the calendar of Adam King, and the Chronicle of Scone, preserving the memory of this humble servant of God.
Her life is a powerful reminder that true nobility lies not in earthly wealth but in holiness and devotion to God.
