St. Charles Borromeo’s Warning to Bishops | Courage to Shepherd Souls

Published 12 hours ago

St. Charles Borromeo’s warning to bishops remains a powerful call to courage, responsibility, and zeal for souls.

Drawing extensively from Dom Prosper Guéranger’s The Liturgical Year, this Catholic homily reflects on St. Charles’s role in the Council of Trent, his renewal of Milan, and his extraordinary example of pastoral leadership.

Hear about his councils and synods, instructions for clergy, care for plague victims, and public acts of prayer and penance. The sermon also examines his forceful appeal to shepherds who neglect their responsibilities or seek the approval of men.

The closing reflection encourages prayer for holy priests and bishops, devotion to the Rosary, and hope for the Church’s renewal. It also discusses devotional expectations concerning an “Angelic Pastor” and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
