Ss. Vitalis and Agricola, Martyrs (4 November): Butler's Lives of the Saints

Published 19 hours ago

In this episode of The Lives of the Saints by Father Alban Butler, we remember Saints Vitalis and Agricola, the heroic martyrs of Bologna. St. Ambrose recounts their steadfast faith during the persecutions of 304 A.D.—Vitalis, a humble servant who first embraced the Christian faith, and Agricola, his master, who followed him in martyrdom.

Their courage under torture, unwavering prayer, and eventual discovery by St. Ambrose in 393 serve as a timeless reminder of the unity of all believers in Christ, where “the servant and the freeman are one and the same thing in Christ.”

🙏 Learn about their witness, relics, and the miraculous dedication of their church through this touching narrative of faith and sacrifice.
