Venerable Athanasius of Medon (Medikon) Monastery is commemorated by the Orthodox Church on October 26. Born into a devout Christian family, he embraced the monastic life with deep love for God. Though his father initially opposed his calling, Athanasius eventually entered the Medikon Monastery in Bithynia with his father’s consent.

He became a close companion of Saint Nicetas (commemorated April 3), living a life of humility, prayer, and obedience. Around the year 814 AD, Saint Athanasius reposed in peace. Miraculously, a cypress tree grew on his grave, and through it, many healings and miracles occurred by the grace of God.

May the prayers of Venerable Athanasius of Medon strengthen us all in faith and perseverance. 🙏
