How do we overcome pride and grow in holiness? The life of Blessed Bonaventure of Potenza offers a powerful answer: begin with humility, persevere in humility, and place your trust in God’s grace.

In this Catholic homily for his October 26 feast, Father reflects on the Franciscan priest’s formation, obedience, preaching, and peaceful death. From the remarkable story of a lost sacristy key to his ministry of bringing sinners to repentance, Blessed Bonaventure’s life illustrates the spiritual fruit of surrendering ourselves to God.

The sermon also examines pride and greed, the need for personal repentance, and the publican’s humble prayer: “O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” Father urges us to examine our consciences daily, remain faithful to our baptismal calling, and imitate the profound humility of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Discover why humility is essential to:
• Building a firm foundation for holiness
• Receiving correction and practicing obedience
• Overcoming pride and recognizing our sins
• Approaching confession with sincere contrition
• Persevering through trials with confidence in God
• Recognizing every grace as a gift from the Most Holy Trinity
