What does it really mean to die to yourself and live for God?

Reflecting on St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians, this sermon considers Christ’s humility and obedience: rather than grasping at equality, He emptied Himself and became obedient.

Using a memorable scene from Gladiator, the sermon contrasts the desire to seize power by force with the Christian path of obedience and humility.

The spiritual principle is simple but demanding:

Obedience leads to humility.
Humility leads to love.

We are called to imitate the Mother of God in her humility and obedience, surrendering our own will so that God can transform us.

The sermon also shares a powerful morning prayer:

“O Lord, You know all things. Do with me as You will.”

It sounds simple—but sincerely praying those words means giving God permission to shape your day, challenge your self-will, and lead you where you may not have chosen to go.
