In today’s reading from The Lives of the Saints by Father Alvin Butler, we honor Saint Elutharius, a humble abbot of Saint Mark’s near Spoleto. Known for his simplicity, compunction, and miraculous works, this holy man delivered a child from demonic possession, healed Pope Gregory the Great through prayer, and even raised a dead man back to life.

Saint Elutharius teaches us the importance of humility, repentance, and the power of prayer. His life reminds us that miracles flow from God’s grace, not human pride. He passed away around the year 585 at Saint Andrew’s Monastery in Rome, and his relics were later translated to Spoleto.
