Are Catholics allowed to read the Bible? Did the Catholic Church hide it from people for a thousand years? In this short episode, Kenny Burchard (a former Protestant pastor with an MA in New Testament Biblical Theology) and Catholic author Dave Armstrong test the claim against the record: 18 printed German Bibles before Luther published a word, plus 25 Italian and 10 French. The 1611 King James translators admitted English Bibles were nothing new. The Venerable Bede translating John’s Gospel in A.D. 735. A pope in 1943 ordering daily family Bible reading. And the number of verses the Church has locked to one interpretation? Scholars put it around six or seven. Dave also shares the real reason so many ex-Catholics never saw a Bible at home. Tell us in the comments: what is a lie about the Catholic Church that you have heard, or that you hear all the time?
