Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network as we continue our joyous celebration of Easter Friday within the Octave of Easter. We gather to offer God praise and thanks during this sacred season, reflecting on the life-giving power of the Cross and Resurrection.
In today’s reverent liturgy, Father David O’Leary (from the Concord-Carlisle Collaborative) reflects on the famous miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish. Father O'Leary offers a beautiful theological perspective: perhaps the greatest miracle was the act of sharing. When we offer the "inventory of our lives"—even if we feel tired, creaky, or have little to give—the Lord takes what is in our basket and transforms it into something miraculous. We are encouraged to be a "Matthew 25 church," welcoming the stranger and putting our unique gifts at the service of others.
The Scriptures highlight divine providence and the courage of faith:
-The First Reading (Acts 5:34-42): The Pharisee Gamaliel advises the Sanhedrin to leave the Apostles alone, wisely noting that if their activity is of human origin, it will fail, but if it is from God, it cannot be destroyed.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 27): A confident declaration of faith: "The Lord is my light and my salvation".
-The Holy Gospel (John 6:1-15): Jesus feeds a crowd of five thousand with only five barley loaves and two fish provided by a young boy, demonstrating that in God's hands, there is always more than enough, with twelve baskets left over.
May the Lord keep safe those He has saved in His kindness, that redeemed by His passion, we may rejoice in the new life of the Spirit.

Theological & Liturgical Context
-Season: Friday within the Second Week of Easter.
-Gospel Focus: The Feeding of the Five Thousand. This sign points toward the Eucharist, where Jesus continues to feed His people. It challenges us to move from a mindset of scarcity to one of communal generosity.
-Homily Key Message: No matter how small or insignificant our contributions may seem, the Lord invites us to "take up the mantle". Whether through active service or the power of prayer, our willingness to be a welcoming presence transforms our parishes into true communities of believers.
