Alleluia! Join The CatholicTV Network for the joyous celebration of Easter Saturday, concluding the extraordinary Octave of Easter. We gather in our chapel to celebrate the "victory of Jesus over death" and to pray for the grace to be true witnesses of His Resurrection in our daily lives.
In today’s reverent liturgy, the celebrant reflects on the transformation of the disciples from doubt and fear to "incorruptible glory" and bold proclamation. Drawing from the courage of Peter and John before the Sanhedrin and Jesus’ final commission in Mark’s Gospel, we explore what it means to be a "new creation" in Christ. We are encouraged to let the "sacrament of your Son" cleanse us from our old ways, making us worthy of the heavenly gifts and the eternal salvation Christ has won. This Mass is a powerful invitation to go forth into the world, refusing to remain silent about the wonders we have seen and heard.
The Scriptures highlight the irrepressible nature of the apostolic witness:
-The First Reading (Acts 4:13-21): The leaders and elders of the Sanhedrin are amazed by the boldness of Peter and John, recognizing them as companions of Jesus. Despite being strictly ordered to no longer speak or teach in the name of Jesus, the Apostles respond: "It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard". Unable to find a way to punish them because all the people were praising God for the miraculous healing of the crippled man, the council releases them.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 118): A song of thanksgiving for deliverance: "I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me".
-The Holy Gospel (Mark 16:9-15): The Risen Jesus appears first to Mary Magdalene and later to two disciples on the road, yet the Eleven remain unbelieving. Finally, Jesus appears to the Eleven themselves as they are at table, rebuking them for their "unbelief and hardness of heart" because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been raised. He then gives them the ultimate mission: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature".
May the eternal mysteries we have received today lead us to attain the incorruptible glory of the Resurrection in our own flesh.

Theological & Liturgical Context
-Season: Saturday within the Octave of Easter.
-Gospel Focus: The Mandate of the Risen Lord; Jesus’ rebuke of the Apostles’ initial doubt highlights that faith is a gift received through the testimony of others, which must then be transformed into an active mission to "every creature," leaving no part of the world untouched by the light of the Gospel.
-Homily Key Message: We are called to "attain in our flesh the incorruptible glory of the resurrection"; by participating in these "eternal mysteries," we find the strength to overcome our own "hardness of heart" and become bold instruments of God's grace in a world that needs the hope of the Risen Christ.
