Discover the inspiring life of St. Theophilus of Corte, the humble Franciscan saint from Corsica whose holiness, preaching, and miracles transformed countless souls. Born into an aristocratic family, young Blaze de Signori left everything behind to follow Christ as a Capuchin friar, becoming one of the great Franciscan saints of the 18th century.
In this episode from The Lives of the Saints by Father Alban Butler, we explore the remarkable journey of St. Theophilus — from his youthful desire for religious life to his missionary preaching, miracles, and the founding of Franciscan houses dedicated to poverty and holiness.
Though naturally shy, St. Theophilus became a powerful preacher whose words brought hardened sinners to repentance and inspired lukewarm Christians to return to God. His deep friendship with Blessed Thomas of Cori and his reputation for sanctity led many to call him a living saint even before his death.
