Today I’m discussing a recent video @TruthUnites put out this week on Gen Z and their love of church history. He encouraged Christian’s to go back and embrace and submit to the ancient creeds of Christianity. But is this something Protestants can do with sincerity and honesty when their very framework and ideology rejects the very thing that gives these creeds authority and weight? They take the liberty of reinterpreting the creeds when it suits them and quoting church fathers when it supposedly supports their theological suppositions. Gavin seems to believe that Protestants can find stability and safety in historic Protestantism but is it really safe when it rejects, reinterprets and reshapes Christianity and the early church? He encourages you to submit to “orthodoxy” even if you don’t agree, but dare I ask, where is one Protestant that submits to anything they don’t agree with? I’ve never met one. Don’t be seduced by the Protestant myth and promise of peace.
