Venerable Anastasius of Sinai, commemorated on April 20, was one of the great ascetics and spiritual teachers of the 7th century. Raised in piety and love for God, he left the world to embrace the monastic life, eventually becoming abbot of the renowned Monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai.

A disciple of the great St. John Climacus, Anastasius grew in humility, wisdom, and spiritual discernment. He authored important spiritual works and the lives of holy fathers, guiding generations in the path of salvation.

As a fearless defender of the Orthodox faith, he traveled through Syria, Egypt, and Arabia to combat heresy and strengthen the Church of Christ. His teachings on guardian angels remain especially powerful—reminding us that while God assigns each of us a heavenly protector, our sins can drive them away, just as smoke drives away bees.

⚔️ In a world filled with spiritual warfare, St. Anastasius calls us to repentance, vigilance, and holiness.
