On March 1, the Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Nestor, Tribimius, Marcellus, and Anthony of Pamphylia, who suffered under the impious Emperor Decius.

Fearlessly preaching Christ in a pagan land, these holy men were denounced to the governor and arrested by a detachment of soldiers. When brought before the tribunal, the instruments of torture were laid out before them to force them to renounce the Faith.

But instead of fear, they cried out:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (Romans 8:35)

Stripped, beaten mercilessly, suspended from a tree, and flayed until their entrails were exposed, they endured unimaginable torment. Yet they did not cease to glorify the Lord.

Seeing their unshakable faith, the governor ordered their execution. After giving thanks to God, these holy martyrs were beheaded and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Their witness stands as a powerful testimony to Catholic courage, masculine virtue, perseverance in suffering, and fidelity to Christ unto death.

May their prayers strengthen us to stand firm in our own trials.
