As conflict and instability continue across the Middle East, an urgent appeal is being issued ahead of Holy Week. In a letter sent to bishops, Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, is encouraging support for the annual Good Friday collection for the Custody of the Holy Land. The collection, taken up in Catholic churches each year on Good Friday, supports the Franciscan mission responsible for safeguarding Christian holy sites and assisting local Christian communities throughout the Holy Land.
