In this video, we recount the life and legacy of St. Gennadius (also called Jadus), who ascended the throne of the Church of Constantinople in 458 during the reign of Emperor Leo the Great. Known for his gentleness, purity, abstinence, and wisdom, St. Gennadius guided the Church through turbulent times with both prayer and action.
β¨ Highlights from his Life:
Defended the Church against heresy and corruption.
Performed miracles through prayer, including healing and righteous judgment.
Condemned simony (buying of church offices) and required clergy to know Scripture by heart.
Built churches and ordained great saints, such as St. Daniel the Stylite.
Authored theological works (though most are now lost).
St. Gennadius governed the Church for 13 years and reposed in 471 AD, leaving behind a strong witness of faith and integrity. His prayers and teachings strengthened the Church against heresy and upheld holiness among the clergy.
