In this powerful sermon for Sexagesima Sunday, we are led into a profound meditation on Noah’s Ark, the Flood, and the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ.

The flood in Holy Scripture was not merely rain — it was judgment. Cities disappeared. Human pride was submerged. Only one refuge remained: the Ark built according to God’s design.

But the Ark is more than history.

It is a figure of:

The Holy Catholic Church

The Sacred Heart of Jesus

The pierced side of Christ

The wood of the Cross

Just as there was only one Ark and only one door, there is only one means of salvation — through Christ crucified.

Outside the Ark: destruction.
Within the Ark: purification and life.

As we prepare for Lent, this sermon challenges us to examine the “floods” in our own lives:

Error and confusion

Impurity

Noise that drowns prayer

Spiritual compromise

Salvation does not come through pride or worldly wisdom — but through humility, obedience, mortification, and fidelity to the Cross.

Now is the time to enter the Ark without hesitation.

Now is the time to cling to Christ crucified.

Now is the time to persevere within the Holy Catholic Church.
