Happy Sunday! Join The CatholicTV Network for the solemn celebration of the Fifth Sunday of Lent as we approach the threshold of Holy Week, reflecting on the power of Christ to bring life out of death.
In today’s profound Homily, the celebrant explores the "surprises of God" and the mystery of His divine timing. Drawing from the raising of Lazarus, we are reminded that God’s plan is often different from our own and that His "delays" are frequently opportunities for a greater manifestation of His glory. We are encouraged to walk eagerly in the same charity as Christ, trusting that the "spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead" dwells within us, offering a hope that transcends even the grave. This Mass is a powerful invitation to encounter the Lord as our Physician, who reconciles us to the Father and heals the wounds of sin and division.
The Scriptures highlight the promise of restoration and the authority of the Son of God:
-The First Reading (Ezekiel 37:12-14): The Lord God issues a definitive promise to His people: "O my people, I will open your graves and have you rise from them". He pledges to put His spirit within them so that they may live and be settled upon their own land, that they may know He is the Lord.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 130): A cry from the depths: "With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption".
-The Second Reading (Romans 8:8-11): St. Paul teaches that if the Spirit of God dwells in us, the One who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies.
-The Holy Gospel (John 11:1-45): Jesus receives word that His friend Lazarus is ill but remains where He is for two days. Upon arriving in Bethany, He finds Lazarus has been in the tomb for four days. After declaring to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life," Jesus travels to the tomb and, deeply troubled, cries out: "Lazarus, come out!". The dead man emerges, restored to life, leading many to believe in Him.
May we always be counted among the members of Christ as we partake in these sacred mysteries, looking forward to the joy of the Resurrection.
