The Scriptures highlight the mystery of the "Just One" and the truth of His divine origin:
-The First Reading (Wisdom 2:1, 12-22): The wicked plot against the just one, finding him "obnoxious" because his life is a reproach to their lawlessness. They decide to test his gentleness with torture and condemn him to a "shameful death," unaware that their wickedness has blinded them to the hidden counsels of God.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 34): A reminder of God's presence in times of trial: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted".
-The Holy Gospel (John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30): Jesus travels to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles in secret because of plots against His life. As He teaches openly in the temple area, the inhabitants wonder if the authorities have realized He is the Christ, though they mistakenly believe they know His origin. Jesus cries out that while they know where He comes from on earth, they do not know the One who is true, who sent Him.

May the healing effects of these sacred mysteries reflect in our holiness of life as we pass from "old to new" during this holy season.
