Why is the Mass so repetitive? Well… because that’s what your soul needs.
We live in a world that is optimized for productivity, efficiency, and convenience.
As a result, so many people are burnt out, anxious, and depressed.
This is where the Church steps in.
Like a mother rocking her restless child back and forth, back and forth, the Mass employs this repetitive motion to calm our restless hearts.
After all, the human soul needs rhythm.
Yet, we often fall prey to another kind of rhythm — scrolling on our phones.
Our culture is constantly consuming, but rarely digesting.
The Mass invites us to pause, slow down, and reflect.
We call it the highest form of worship – because in it we offer ourselves to God and unite our hearts to Christ’s sacrifice.
You can reflect upon the Mass for an entire lifetime and it will still bear fruit for your soul.
So don’t look at the Mass as a boring burden.
Enter in with a spirit open to the Lord so that you can hear His Word and engage in His mighty works.
Because that longing in your heart cannot be satisfied with anything on earth — only by your Creator.
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” St. Augustine of Hippo
