Welcome! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Thursday of the Third Week of Lent as we pray for the grace to be set free from everything that hinders our walk with God.
In today’s reverent Homily, the celebrant reflects on the profound interrelated miracles of Jesus casting out a demon and restoring speech to a mute man. He reminds us that healing is always accomplished for the sake of mission and evangelization; Jesus frees us so that our lips may proclaim His praise and our lives may testify to the Good News. We are encouraged to bring our own "demons"—our vices, bad habits, and temptations—to the Lord, trusting that through our Lenten practices of prayer and fasting, He will break the bonds that steal our freedom. This Mass is a powerful invitation to "watch more intently with Christ" and to ask for a heart that is no longer hardened, but open to the saving voice of God.
The Scriptures highlight the challenge of obedience and the victory of God’s kingdom:
-The First Reading (Jeremiah 7:23-28): The Lord recalls His command to the people to listen to His voice so that they might prosper. However, the prophet laments that they walked in the "hardness of their evil hearts," turning their backs to God and refusing to take correction, leading to a state where "faithfulness has disappeared".
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 95): A call to worship and a warning: "If today you hear his voice, harden not your heart".
-The Holy Gospel (Luke 11:14-23): Jesus drives out a demon that was mute, causing the man to speak. While some accuse Him of working through Beelzebul, Jesus declares that if He drives out demons by the "finger of God," then the kingdom of God has come upon them. He warns that "whoever is not with me is against me," calling us to a definitive gather with Him.
May we press forward all the more eagerly toward the celebration of the Paschal Mystery, that we may possess God’s salvation both in mystery and in the manner of our life.
