The CatholicTV Network welcomes and invites you to celebrate the sacred mysteries on the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles!
In today's insightful Homily, Father Shawn Carey celebrates the powerful example of Saints Simon and Jude, who were "martyred for their faith on the same day". Their journey, and that of the Apostles, is a reminder that the work of building the Church "has not stopped". We are encouraged to remember that the community includes sinners, but we can always rely on the love of Christ to help us love all people and especially to forgive those people who have sinned against us.
The Scriptures highlight the apostolic foundation of our faith:
The First Reading from Ephesians 2:19-22 teaches that we are "no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God". This holy dwelling is "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone".
The Holy Gospel according to Luke (6:12-16) shows Jesus choosing the Twelve Apostles after spending the night in prayer to God. This deliberate act establishes the core of the Church's foundation.
This Feast Day is a powerful call to persevere in spreading the good news and strengthening our community of love through the love and forgiveness taught by Christ.
