Why Christians MUST Practice Meditation | Monday of the 4th Week of Lent

When Our Lord entered the temple in Jerusalem, He drove out those who had turned His Father’s house into a place of trade. But the Gospel reveals something deeper: each Christian soul is also a temple of God.
Through baptism, our hearts become the altar of the interior temple, where the fire of divine charity must continually burn.
In this powerful Lenten reflection, we explore why Christian meditation is absolutely necessary for salvation.
Many people excuse themselves from meditation:
The irreligious say they are not obligated.
The ignorant say they are incapable.
The busy say they do not have time.
But the Church teaches something startling:
Without meditation…
The means of salvation become ineffective
The practice of virtue becomes impossible
Sin becomes inevitable
Meditation prepares the soul for:
Confession
Holy Communion
The grace of God
True conversion of heart
The saints insist that without reflecting on:
The Passion of Christ
The reality of death
The Last Judgment
Heaven and hell
…the soul slowly drifts toward sin.
This Lenten sermon calls us back to the forgotten discipline of daily meditation, the prayer that transforms the soul and prepares it for eternity.
Since our eternal happiness will consist in contemplating God forever, we must begin to think of Him now.
