What does it really mean to make the Sign of the Cross?

Drawing upon St. Leo the Great, this Catholic sermon reflects on the astonishing dignity given to Christians united to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings. Christ reigned from the Cross, conquered sin and death, and transformed suffering itself. When we live in sanctifying grace and return to Christ through Confession, we participate in His victory.

But Christianity is not meant to remain safely inside the walls of a church. Every day Catholics enter a world filled with competing idols, temptations, fear, and false promises. The Christian is called to carry the Cross into that world.

The sermon presents a memorable challenge: become “revolutionaries of the Cross.”
Not revolutionaries of hatred or worldly power, but of faith, sanctity, and joy. The Cross overturns the world's understanding of victory. Christ conquers through sacrifice. He reigns through love. He defeats death by passing through death.

The world is waiting for Catholics willing to live what they profess.
