In this video we commemorate St. Quadratus of Nicomedia and the holy martyrs who suffered with him, honored by the Church on March 10.

St. Quadratus was born into a wealthy and distinguished Christian family, yet he used his wealth to assist Christians imprisoned during the persecutions of the Roman emperors Decius and Valerian. When the proconsul Perennius arrived in Nicomedia to persecute Christians, Quadratus courageously presented himself voluntarily to strengthen the imprisoned faithful.

Despite promises of honor and reward, he refused to deny Christ.

The saint endured horrific tortures:

A bed of nails with a heavy stone placed upon him

Imprisonment and public torture

Being thrown into a pit with poisonous serpents

Being placed upon red-hot iron

Yet through every trial, St. Quadratus remained steadfast, encouraging the other martyrs in their suffering.

During their torment, a miraculous sign appeared:
A radiant cloud filled the sky while the pagans were plunged into darkness, and the singing of angels was heard glorifying God.

Two noblemen, Saturus and Rufinus, moved with compassion for the martyr, confessed Christ and were immediately beheaded for the faith.

Finally, after surviving many torments, St. Quadratus was beheaded, sealing his witness to Christ with his blood.

These holy martyrs remind us that true Christian courage comes from unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, even in the face of death.

May their example strengthen our faith and inspire us to remain steadfast in Christ.
