As part of a four-day royal visit, King Charles III addressed a joint meeting of Congress, becoming only the second British monarch to do so, following Queen Elizabeth II in 1991. Although the address was short, only about 30 minutes, the historic message will last much longer, as the King expressed support following Saturday’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and highlighted the “reconciliation and renewal” of the U.S.–U.K. alliance over the past 250 years.
