Day 3 without power. ⛈️
We lost the rest of the trees in our yard. One massive tree came down and blocked the street. Basements flooded. Branches fell on homes. Thousands have been dealing with the aftermath of these storms.
But in the middle of the destruction, we’ve witnessed something beautiful.
Neighbors we had never even met showed up with chainsaws.
People helped pump out flooded basements, clear branches from homes, run extension cords to generators, and check on one another.
Storms have a way of bringing communities together.
And I keep thinking about last Sunday’s Gospel.
Peter was walking on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm. As he began to sink, he cried out:
“Lord, save me!” — Matthew 14:30
And Jesus immediately reached out His hand.
Maybe that’s the reminder in all of this.
Keep your eyes on Jesus in the storm. Cry out when you need Him. And pay attention to the people He puts around you.
Because sometimes when we pray, “Lord, save me,” the hand He reaches out with belongs to the neighbor down the street.
Thank you to every person who has shown up for someone this week. ❤️
