Catholics didn’t invent the Queenship of Mary. 👑 It’s right there in the biblical story.

Today the Church celebrates the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and one of the most common objections is:

“Where does the Bible say Mary is Queen?”

Start with Jesus.

Gabriel tells Mary that her Son will receive “the throne of David” and reign forever. Jesus is the promised Davidic King. — Luke 1:32–33 (USCCB⁠)

And here’s the part many Christians miss:

In the Davidic kingdom, the honored queen was the mother of the king, the Gebirah or Queen Mother.

Look at 1 Kings 2:19.

When Bathsheba comes before her son Solomon, the king rises to meet her, honors her, and has a throne placed for his mother at his right hand.

Why?

Because she is the mother of the king.

Now follow the logic:

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Davidic Kingdom.

Jesus is King.

Mary is the mother of the King.

And then we arrive at Revelation 12, where John sees a woman in heaven, crowned with twelve stars, who gives birth to the male child destined to rule the nations. (USCCB⁠)

This doesn’t make Mary equal to Jesus.

Her queenship exists precisely because HE is King.

Everything we believe about Mary ultimately points us back to her Son.

So today, on the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

Hail, Holy Queen. 👑

Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us and lead us always to Jesus.
