On April 10, the Church commemorates Saint Terence and his 40 companions, who suffered martyrdom in Carthage under Emperor Decius (249–251 AD).

When the emperor ordered all citizens to sacrifice to pagan idols, many gave in out of fear. But Terence and his fellow Christians stood firm, boldly proclaiming their faith in Jesus Christ—the Savior who was crucified and rose again on the third day.

Despite brutal tortures—burning, tearing with iron claws, and exposure to poison—they refused to deny Christ. By the power of God, they endured suffering with courage and even witnessed miracles: idols collapsing, chains falling away, and deadly creatures rendered harmless.

In the end, they bowed their heads beneath the sword, choosing eternal life over earthly survival. Their witness remains a powerful testimony of faith, courage, and unwavering devotion to Christ.
