These are sins modern society often trivialises, and even many Christians barely recognise anymore. Yet Catholic moral theology has always treated them very seriously because reputations, relationships and souls can be wounded profoundly through careless speech. Many sufferings and disappointments in life may ultimately become occasions of grace & conversion when seen through God’s providence.
