What are you building your life upon?

In 1 Corinthians 3, St. Paul describes himself as a master builder and teaches that every Christian must build upon the one foundation already laid: Jesus Christ. What is truly built upon Him will endure; what is false, useless, or disconnected from Christ will ultimately be exposed.

The homily explains that the Temple of God is the Church — not merely an individual reality, but the people of God together, built upon Christ, the Apostles, and the saints.

Our task is therefore to build lives of holiness and virtue rooted completely in Christ. Through Baptism, our lives are no longer simply our own; we are called to become one with Him so that the fruits of the Holy Spirit can grow within us.

But there is a danger: deception.

The devil’s strategy from the beginning has been to convince us that God does not love us, that we are not His children, and that transformation in Christ is impossible. Even Scripture itself can be twisted into a false image of God if it leads us toward hatred rather than love.

The message is simple:

Don’t waste your life building on things that will disappear. Build everything on Jesus Christ.
