The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, won a fifth term in office, extending his rule over the country to 42 years. Around 47 percent of the population is Catholic. Paul Nantulya, a research associate for the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, joins to discuss the Catholic Church in the Republic of the Congo and its involvement in the political process as an election observer.
