On April 18, the Church commemorates the holy martyrs Victor, Zodicus, Asendinus, Zeno, Searian, and Cesarius of Nicomedia, who gave their lives for Christ during the brutal persecution under Emperor Diocletian (284–305).

These courageous men were deeply moved by the unwavering faith of St. George, the great martyr and victory-bearer (feast day April 23). When they witnessed his miraculous endurance—especially his survival of the wheel of torture—they were struck with awe and boldly proclaimed their belief in Christ before all.

Their confession of faith came at a cost. Refusing to deny Christ, they were sentenced to death and beheaded in Nicomedia in 303, joining the ranks of the martyrs whose blood became the seed of the Church.

✨ Their story reminds us:

The witness of one faithful soul can convert many
Courage in suffering is a powerful testimony
Christ strengthens those who stand firm in Him

May their steadfast faith inspire us to remain strong in our own trials and boldly profess Christ in the world today.
