A pair of U.S. lawmakers are joining forces with a leading pro-life group on a measure to help families who experience a miscarriage or early pregnancy loss. In many states, the decision over fetal remains is made by the hospital. In some cases, this leads to a baby being discarded as “medical waste.” The Bereaved Parents Rights Act would establish a more consistent and compassionate national standard. Spearheading the effort are Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), who experienced early pregnancy loss, and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), who spent 25 years as a physician and OB/GYN. They are working with Students for Life Action to pass the bill and bring comfort to families. EWTN’s Paola Flynn reports from Washington DC.
