Fulton Sheen Prayed to Die Before the Eucharist… Then This Happened

Blessed Fulton Sheen prayed for the exact way he wanted to die — and God gave it to him. 🙏
From his ordination in 1919, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen made a daily Holy Hour before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. He never missed one in 60 years of priesthood.
He prayed for one final grace: to die in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, on a Marian feast day.
On December 9, 1979 — one day after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception — after celebrating Mass that morning, Sheen was found dead in his private chapel in New York, before the tabernacle.
On September 24, 2026, before 50,000 faithful in St. Louis, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle declared him Blessed Fulton Sheen, the first American-born bishop beatified. His feast day: December 9.
