On April 13, the Church commemorates St. Crescens of Myra in Lycia, a holy martyr from an illustrious family who boldly proclaimed Christ in the face of pagan opposition.

As crowds made their way to a pagan temple, St. Crescens courageously called them to forsake idols and turn to Jesus Christ. When brought before the city prefect, he refused to deny his faith—even when given the opportunity to pretend outwardly.

His powerful words still echo today:

“It is impossible for the body not to do as the soul thinks, since the soul governs and moves the body.”

For his unwavering faith, St. Crescens endured brutal torture and was ultimately martyred by fire.

This inspiring story reminds us that true faith cannot be hidden—it must be lived boldly, even at great cost.
