Meditation for the Christmas Novena – December 21st (Day 6)
Jesus, a Prisoner in the Womb of Mary
In this profound Catholic meditation, we contemplate the hidden sufferings of Our Lord Jesus Christ during the nine months He spent imprisoned in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Though innocent, Christ freely chose confinement, silence, darkness, and immobility out of pure love for mankind.
Unlike other infants, Jesus possessed full use of reason from the first moment of His conception. He felt every limitation:
– Eyes that could not see
– Hands that could not move
– A tongue that could not speak
– A body bound in stillness
This meditation reflects on Christ’s voluntary imprisonment as a prison of love, offered to satisfy divine justice for our sins and to free us from the chains of hell.
“I am become as a man without help, free among the dead.”
— Psalm 87:5–6
Through reflections inspired by St. Ambrose, this meditation leads us into deep gratitude, repentance, and consecration of our liberty back to God. We also implore the intercession of Our Lady, whose womb became the first tabernacle and prison of the Savior.
Perfect for:

🙏 May this meditation draw you closer to the Infant Jesus and His Mother.
